DoH will reveal NPfIT changes within weeks

The NHS chief executive has said that the government will announce changes to the National Programme for IT in 'the next few weeks or so'

David Nicholson told SmartHealthcare.com that, as a result, neither he nor health secretary Andrew Lansley were able to disclose any further information at this stage.

"There will be an announcement in the next four weeks or so in regards to the programme. Apart from that, I can't say any more at the moment," said Nicholson on 12 July 2010.

Nicholson was speaking at a briefing on the Department of Health white paper Liberating the NHS, which outlines a number of major NHS reforms including the abolition of primary care trusts and strategic health authorities.
