Scotland takes swine flu discussion online

The Scottish Government is to run an online seminar to help businesses prepare for the impacts of swine flu

It has announced plans to bring together a group of experts for short presentations and a question and answer session, to be made available on a dedicated web space, log in details for which have been made public, at 12.30 pm on Thursday 12 November.

Following the event it will be available on the Scottish Government, Business Gateway and business organisations' websites.

The seminar will be led by David Hutcheson, representing the Institute of Directors (Scotland) and the Business Continuity Institute.

A statement said that businesses are still likely to experience staff absences and disruption to services and supply chains from swine flu.

Cabinet secretary for finance and sustainable growth John Swinney said: "The online seminar session will communicate key pandemic flu preparedness information which will be of particular benefit to smaller and micro-businesses who may not be getting information through other channels.

"We would encourage firms of all sizes to participate in this event and benefit from free advice to maintain a healthy business."
